Charleston is the perfect city. Just look at all of the travel awards it has won! Ever wondered what the root of Charleston's charm is? Here are a few of the things that Charleston is famous for!
Museums
Charleston is home to some marvelous museums! A great starting place is the Charleston Museum, where you'll find artifacts and antiques related to the city's past. Fort Sumter National Monument is an immensely popular historic site to visit. You can also tour Old Exchange & Provost Dungeon for a look at the city's history. Looking for something that isn't so focused on history? Visit the Gibbes Museum of Art!

Parks
Charleston's parks are incredible! Joe Riley Waterfront Park is a beautiful park with views of the Cooper River Bridge and Charleston Harbor. Palmetto Islands County Park is located a short drive from Charleston and is a favorite for its kayaking, beautiful flora, and crabbing deck, among other things. Marion Square is a fantastic park to hang out at if you're in downtown Charleston! Relax in the green space with a cup of local coffee!

Islands
Charleston is an amazing home base for day trips to South Carolina's scenic islands. James Island is a short trip from Charleston. Believe it or not, you can walk there from the city! There, you'll find one of the state's most romantic, serene spaces. As a huge Edgar Allan Poe Fan, one of my favorite islands to visit is Sullivan's Island. I love the beach town feel. Grab a burger from Poe's Tavern and then relax on the water!
You can also check out Kiawah Island, Morris Island, Isle of Palms, or any of the other convenient barrier islands.
Food
Charleston is paradise if you love Southern and/or seafood. The local food is to die for! Be sure to explore some of the city's famous restaurants, such as Hank's Seafood (for seafood - I recommend the crab cakes!), Magnolias (for breathtaking southern eats), and Slightly North of Broad (for eclectic Lowcountry specialties).
